R. Abel Garraghan, President of Heritage Energy, Has Passed Away
We regret to inform our fellow council members that our friend and colleague R. Abel Garraghan, President of Heritage Energy, of Kingston, N.Y., died Monday at age 72 at his home in West Hyannisport, Massachusetts. Garraghan served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for Mount Saint Mary College, a director of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, and a member of the Kingston Waterfront Revitalization Commission and Ulster County Development Corporation.
Garraghan had recently been named as a member of Kingston’s Board of Water Commissioners. Business partner Ken Davenport praised his commitment to the energy industry, foresight, and leadership abilities. Garraghan is survived by his wife Nancy Lupton Garraghan. He was the father of Patrick and Tanya Garraghan of Hurley, N.Y, Kiley and Jim Shea of Loughton, England and Molly Garraghan of Denver, CO; brother of Julie G. Gavitt, Rumford, RI; grandfather of Gracie, Marin and Cian Shea, R. Gabriel Garraghan; step grandfather of Jordan Hulbert. He was son of the late Raymond W. and Ruth Abernethy Garraghan. Raymond W. Garraghan was former Mayor of Kingston.
